Human Rights Stamps of Abu Dhabi The Human Rights Stamps are one of the few important stamps issued by the Trucial State of Abu Dhabi.Abu Dhabi issued its own stamps from 30th March 1964 the first Abu Dhabi stamps were a definitive series depicting Sheikh Shakhbout bin Zayed Al Nahyan. There were eleven values under the Indian currency that was used of 100 naye paise = 1 rupee. When the treaty with Great Britain expired at the end of 1966, Abu Dhabi introduced a new currency of 1000 fils = 1 dinar and took over its own postal administration.
The Human right stamps are one of those stamps which issued with new currency and are considered to be Abu Dhabi’s first commemorative series. Issued, in the year 1968, the stamps celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights by the UN General Assembly.
The stamps are divided in two parts. The central part has the denomination value 35, 60 and 150 fils. The left part depicts Human Rights Emblem flanked by the year of issue both in Roman and Indo Arabic numbers and at its bottom an inscription “HUMAN RIGHTS YEAR” can be seen in Arabic and Roman. The other part depicts a portrait of Sheikh Zaid along with “ABU DHABI” written below it in both Roman and Arabic.
