2018-10-11 Thu
A girl is a sister, daughter and a mother and in some parts, it is regarded as a Goddess too. But in some times the condition of girls are worrisome. Some are killed in the womb, some are not allowed to go to college, some get teased for their sexuality, and some are persecuted due to dowry. In an attempt to raise awareness about the issues faced by girls around the world United Nation has declared October 11th as International Day of Girl Child.
The purpose of this day is to make available more opportunities for girls and to fight against the gender inequality that is deep rooted in our country.
This inequality includes concerns such as a right to education/access to education, nutrition, legal rights, medical care, and protection from discrimination, violence against women, child marriage, etc.
It is very necessary to remove different types of social discrimination and exploitation that girls generally face in their life. To celebrate this day variety of events are organized across the world.
Further going beyond these objectives, many countries released commemorative stamp which celebrates the International Day of Girl Child!
