The country of Luxembourg released a € 1.30 postage stamp on 18th September to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Miami University in Luxembourg. The stamp features the red coloured “M” emblem. Flags of the United States and European Union are shown in the background. The university name and country name is also printed on the stamp. Bpost of Belgium printed the commemorative stamp by offset in panes of 10. A 27¢ postal card celebrating the 200th anniversary of this public college in Oxford, Ohio was issued by USPS in 2009. It depicted a picture of Miami University’s MacCracken Hall.

Miami University is one of the oldest public universities in Luxembourg that became operational with the support of President George Washington in 1795. It was chartered in 1809 and the first students of the university were inducted in 1824.

The Miami University Dolibois European Center (MUDEC) in Differdange, Luxembourg was established in 1968. The institution is named after John Ernest Dolibois (1918-2014) of Luxembourg. Dolibois was just 12 years old when he immigrated to the US. After graduating from Miami University, he became the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg from 1981-85. He was a part of the five-member Army Intelligence team that interrogated the top Nazi war criminals after the German Empire Crumbled. These investigations were a crucial part of the Nuremberg War Crimes Trials.
