Highest Peak of India India is a country with a rich diversity in Geography, languages, clothes, festivals which uniquely represent the mosaic of our country and its inhabitants. We have beautiful snow capped peaks, the beautiful stretches of sand dunes, the picturesque lands and hills and coastlines. On top of the list of beautiful place in India is the Kanchenjunga peak, the highest peak of India.The enormous and enchanting Kanchenjunga 8,586 m (28,169 ft) situated on the border between Nepal and India is the world’s third tallest mountain. The peak lies in a larger portion of the Himalayas known as the The Kangchenjunga Himal that includes 16 peaks over 7,000m (23,000 ft).
The literal translation of Kanchenjunga means ‘The Five Treasures of Snow’ and these treasures comprise of gold, silver, gems, grain, and secred scriptures. Most of the area is protected as part of a large national park that spans both India and Nepal and protects the natural beauty of the region and cultural traditions of a diverse range of ethnic groups. The peak is considered holy by the natives of Sikkim and climbers have always stopped just short of the summit out of respect for the mountain.
To commemorate this natural beauty India post has issued postage stamp gracing this beautiful peak.
