The Queen's Staircase located in the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex in Nassau, a major landmark commonly referred to as the 66 steps. It was hewn out of solid limestone rock by slaves between 1793 and 1794 and it is said that it provided a direct route from Fort Fincastle to Nassau City. These steps were later named in honour of Queen Victoria.
This major landmark was honoured on the new stamps of the country. A one penny stamp was issued on 23rd September 1901 which depicts a photograph of the forest clad staircase. The same design was reused in 1903.
