Daniel F. Kelleher is going to auction many interesting postage stamps from 27th to 29th September in Danbury, Conn. Philatelic items from United States, Great Britain, British Commonwealth, world and the Loth family collection would be up for sale. One of the highlights from the Loth family collection is a used 1911 3¢ deep violet George Washington stamp which is also known as “Orangeburg”. This stamp is scarce and had a limited print run. It was used by Bell Pharmaceutical in Orangeburg, N.Y. to mail samples to their customers. Apart from small corner creases, the stamp looks fine and it comes along with a 1996 Philatelic Foundation certificate. The opening bid for this item is $2,800 and it has an estimated value of $4,000 to $6,000.
Another interesting offering is a used imperforate $1.30 foreign exchange stamp from the 1863 first issue with manuscript cancel. Although the stamp has a small tear and a corner margin crease, it has clear and very large margins. The stamp is being offered with a 2017 Foundation certificate at a starting bid of $2,000 and an estimated value of $4,000 to $6,000.
An unused 1930 Newfoundland airmail with original gum, carrying the 50¢ on 36¢ Columbia overprint stamp is being offered at a starting bid of $3,750 and an estimated value of $7,500 to $10,000. The stamp is signed A. Diena and comes along with 2014 Weiss, 2003 Rendon and 1962 Diena certificates.
