2019 Lunar Year of the Pig Celebrated by Royal Mint

The Royal Mint released the latest coin in its lunar coin collection celebrating the Year of the Pig. Artist and professional wood engraver Harry Brockway created the reverse design. It features an adult pig feeding her five little piglets. Countryside imagery is shown in the background with stars in the sky. Other inscriptions include Year of the Pig 2019. The obverse features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II along with denomination and the name of Queen. The coin is available in Gold and Silver versions in varying sizes, qualities and denominations.Chinese New Year
Tokens and gifts of money are exchanged in red envelopes during Chinese New year. It is believed that these gifts bring in good health, wealth and prosperity into the lives of the recipient. There are 12 signs named after 12 different animals as per the Chinese calendar. A new cycle of Chinese calendar would begin in 2020 with the Year of the Rat, making the pig, the last sign of Chinese zodiac in 2019.

The pig is considered to be intelligent according to Chinese culture and those who are born in this year are believed to be curious by nature. They like analysing situations and coming up with new solutions. They are also lovable, friendly and trustworthy. They are considered to be the most selfless amongst all other Chinese Zodiac signs.
