This commemorative coin was issued by the USA on 31st January 2011, to honour the American Soldiers. These coins commemorate the nation’s oldest military branch, the United States Army, which was founded by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1775.The obverse of this coin depicts bust of the male and female soldier facing back to back, with the globe at their background which symbolize the worldwide development of modern USA Army; The inscription ‘LIBERTY’ appears at the top and ‘IN GOD WE TRUST’ with date 2011 at the bottom. The reverse of this coin depicts gold seal of United States, which is a worn of Army uniform in the centre, with inscription ‘ROYALTY’, ‘DUTY’, ‘RESPECT’, ‘SELFLESS SERVICE’, ‘HONOUR’, ‘INTEGRITY’, and ‘PERSONAL COURAGE’, in the double circle, and in the outermost circle inscription is written as ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ at the top and ‘ONE DOLLAR’ at the bottom.
These coins were struck in both proofs and in uncirculated specimens. The surcharges from the sale of his coins were used to fund Army Historical Foundation to help establish the National Museum of the United States Army.
