Fantasy Coins Will No More Be A Fantasy

2016-03-12 Sat

Shire Post Mint is a small mint that makes fantasy coins. They have the literary license for Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian, and other classics. The coins are all designed in-house based on descriptions in the books and are more authentic to the source. They’re also made of solid metals with no plating, which makes them more appealing for actual use than movie prop coins. Shire Post’s coins are solid, stamped hunks of copper, brass, and iron, and hence more durable.

Shire Post’s Hobbit and Lord of the Rings coin sets include a three-pence heavy coin with a cool octagonal imprint on both sides, a copper leaf of Hollin coin, shaped like a leaf and covered with Elvish script and the iron coin of Mordor with the Eye of Sauron on one side with the words “OBEY MORDOR” on the other.

The Game of Thrones coin sets include an Iron Coin of the Faceless Man, and individual coinage sets from the major houses of Westeros like the House Baratheon, House Greyjoy and House Targaryen.

The Conan the Barbarian set includes Aquilonian, Hyperborean, and Turanian pennies, plus a Stygian scroll and Crom Counts the Dead. Crom has his own penny with a skull on it.

Shire Post also has generic gaming coins in various denominations.
