Serbian Stamps of Uprising of 1804

Serbian stamps commemorating the centenary of the Uprising of 1804 was one of the last issues of Serbia.First stamps of Serbia first appeared in the year 1866. This was a crucial time in Serbian history. Serbia had been a semi-independent principality within the Ottoman Empire since 1804. In the year 1804 Serbs in the Sanjak of Smederevo revolted against Ottoman Empire. A local revolt gradually evolved into a war for independence ending the Ottoman Rule on 7th October 1813.
The event was followed by the founding of the House of Karageorgevic. In the year 1904, Serbia Post celebrated the the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the House of Karageorgevi? the Coronation of King Peter I.
A set of 8 stamps were issued, among which a set of three stamps commemorated the centenary of the uprising. Stamps of 1 Serbian dinar, 3 Serbian dinars and 5 Serbian dinars were issued which feature a battle scene in the centre flanked by the years 1804 and 1904.
