Taj Al-Din Firuz Shah was a ruler of Bahmani Sultanate. The Bahmani Kingdom was a Muslim State in Deccan, it was the first independent Islamic kingdom of southern India. This kingdom was established by Ala-ud-din Bahman Shah after revolting against Delhi Sultanate of Muhammad bin Tughluq.Taj Al-Din Firuz Shah ruled from 1397 to 1422. During his reign, he issued coins in all three metals. gold, silver, and copper. Silver tankas issued by him are of two varieties. Coins with the Kunya, Abul Muzaffar, written on the obverse and coins with Kunya written on the reverse side. Coins with Kunya inscription on the obverse side are common while the coins with Kunya inscription on the reverse are rare. Kunya is a component of the Arabic name, a type of epithet, the name of an adult-derived from his or her eldest child.
In copper, he issued the denomination like Falus, Two-Third Falus, Half-Falus, One-Third Falus, Paisa, Half-Paisa, Quarter-Paisa, and One-Eighth Paisa. The Paisa, Half-Paisa and Quarter- Paisa issued are in both shapes square and round.
This very rare copper one-third falus issued by him weighs around 0.97g. This coin was minted by him from the Hadrat Ahsanabad mint. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king and reverse side of the coin is inscribed with the mint name.
