Flying Raven on Canadian Hologram Coin
2016-03-11 Fri
The 2015 Raven 1 oz. Fine Silver Hologram Coin would mark the end of the northern lights series. The hologram is produced using a patented nanotechnology-based method which creates 3D non-coloured holographic elements. The hologram is struck microscopically into the coin’s surface. This would be Canadian Mint’s first coin to bear a non-circular achromatic hologram and the third achromatic hologram. The reverse design is created by Canadian artist Nathalie Bertin featuring the raven at the center flying over a mountainous terrain which is seen with a colourful representation of the northern lights (aurora borealis) filling the sky above. Other inscriptions include ‘CANADA’, ‘2015’ and the legal tender face value of ‘20 DOLLARS’.
The obverse features Susanna Blunt’s effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with other inscriptions like ‘ELIZABETH II’ and ‘D G REGINA’.
