Azam Shah Silver Rupee Listed For INR 60,000

This silver coin was issued by ruler Muhammad Azam Shah of Mughal Empire during the first year of his reign. The Mughal Empire is perhaps one of the empires which hardly require any introduction. It is one of the largest empires to rule over the Indian subcontinent during the medieval period.Muhammad Azam Shah was the eldest son of sixth Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. He was also appointed as the heir apparent to his father in the year 1681. He sat on the Mughal throne after the death of Aurangzeb in the year 1707 AD.
This silver rupee was issued by Muhammad Azam Shah during first year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka zad dar Jahan ba Daulat-wa-Jah Badshah mumalik Azam Shah, AH 1119’. On the reverse side, the coin bears the legend as ‘julus-e-Ashraf, sanah ahad, zarb Surat’.
This silver rupee is listed for INR 60,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held in Mumbai on 1st September 2018.
