Jahangir Gold Mohur Listed For INR 3,50,000

This gold mohur minted in Burhanpur during the reign of Mughal Emperor Jahangir is listed for INR 3,50,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla. This auction will be held in World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade Mumbai on 1 September 2018 around 6 PM.Jahangir was a fourth Emperor of the Mughal dynasty who ruled the Empire from 1605 to 1627 AD. The meaning of the word Jahangir is ‘conqueror of the world'. Mughal Empire had reached its highest peak at the time of Akbar. Jahangir tried to maintain the same stability during his time and succeeded in consolidating the huge empire.
This very rare gold mohur was issued by Jahangir during the month of Di. The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Nur-Al-Din Jahangir Shah Akbar Shah’. The reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Ilahi month Di, on the top, mint name in the middle line and Regnal year at the bottom.
