2018-08-08 Wed
50-50 Doplatit Stamp of Czechoslovakia is one of the rarest Czechoslovakian stamps which was sold for more than 1.7 million crowns (USD76, 502) in the year 2016.When Czechoslovakia was liberated in the 1920s, new stamps were issued depicting a man breaking chains tied to him. The “chain breaker” stamps, during the times of First Republic, were supposed to be overprinted with the word 50 Doplatit.
The stamps which were to be overprinted were 20 heller and 150 heller stamps which were in red. Since the 50h stamps were also in red, they were also overprinted. There are currently around 13-17 pieces of these stamps with 50/50 error mark. However, none of the stamps which have survived so far is of mint condition.
A fine conditioned piece can bring USD76, 502.
