1Kcs Los Angeles Olympic stamp is an unissued rare stamp of Czechoslovakia. In the year 1984, the Olympics Games took place at Los Angeles hosted by the USA. During the time, the rivalry between the USA and USSR had reached a peak. Despite the ideological differences, USSR supported the Olympic Games by issuing a set of four commemorative stamps.
Among them, the 1Kcs stamps depicting an athlete were withdrawn because of the pressure of the Communist Government as the stamp had “Los Angeles” written over it. Most of the stamps were destroyed. However, a handful of copies survived.
One of such stamps made an appearance in the cherrystone auctions in September 2017. The unissued stamp managed to fetch 1400 USD during the sale.
