Silver Abbasi coin of Karim Khan Zand

Karim Khan Zand was the founder of the Zand dynasty and the Shah of Iran, ruling from 1753 to 1779 AD. He rules over entire Iran except for Khorasan and also some Caucasian lands and occupied Basra for some years.During his reign, relations with Britain were restored, and he allowed the East India Company to have a trading post in southern Iran. He made Shiraz his capital and ordered the construction of several architectural projects there.
The silver Abbasi depicted above was issued in his reign from Dar al-Marz Rasht mint in 1170 AH. The Obverse of the coin depicts with Persian couplet ‘Shud Aftab wa Mah Zar wa Sim dar Jahan / az Sikka-i Imam ba-Haq Sahib al-Zaman’. The reverse of a coin inscribed with Mint-name in a calligraphic formation and AH date.
