Chanakya depicted on a commemorative coin

Acharya Chanakya was a teacher, counsellor and minister to Emperor Chandragupta Maurya. He is considered as the greatest economist and jurist of his time. He was also famed with the creation of Arthashastra, his thoughts have revolutionised the field of political science and economics.Chanakya is also known as Kautilya and Vishnugupta. He is also considered as king-makers who helped to unite India during the time of the foreign invasion. In 2011, Reserve Bank of India released an INR 150 commemorative coin to mark 150 years of income tax in India by depicting Chanakya, the author of the greatest economic text Arthasastra.
Today on the occasion of Guru Purnima, we should remember Chankaya one of the most respected teachers from this soil after scholars and teachers like Maharishi Vyasa, Rishi Visvamitra, Gautama Buddha, Mahavira, etc.
In India, Guru Purnima is a tradition dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. It is also connected to the Buddha's first sermon in Sarnath, it also links to Lord Shiva, as he began transmission of Yoga to the Saptarishis. It is also said that Maharishi Vyasa was born on this day.
