Maharana Pratap is one of the kings whose name can be engraved with the golden words. He is one of the kings who had fought for Dharma, Culture and Freedom of his country by sacrificing his life. He is one of the Rajputs kings who has never surrendered to the Mughals, even after being defeated by Mughals in Haldighati Battle he never accepted his defeat and kept on attacking Mughals with Guerilla warfare.Maharana Pratap's beloved Horse Chetak was with him till his last breath. Chetak also rescued Maharana Pratap in the battlefield and also brought him to the safer place in spite of having wounds. There are many poems sung in Marwari about this great warrior and his horse Chetak.
The Indian Government had issued the commemorative set of Coins of this great legend. The image given here is of Rupee one coin. The obverse of this coin depicts the portrait of ‘Maharana Pratap’ facing towards left, with the legend ‘Maharana Pratap’ written both in ‘Roman’ and ‘Devnagari’ with his birth and death year ‘1540-1597’ and year of Issue ‘2003’ around.
