The First Commemorative Stamps of Finland

The first commemorative stamps of Finland appeared in 1927, to celebrate the anniversary of the young republic's independence from Russia.On 6 December 1917, the Finnish Declaration of Independence was signed and Finland was declared as an independent nation, ending its autonomy within Russia. 10 years later i.e. on 6th December 1927, Finland issued its first commemorative stamp to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Finnish Independence.
Two stamps were issued in two different colours and two denominations. The stamp of 1½M is in deep violet and the 2M stamp is in blue colour. The common design features the Coat of Arms of Finland, and the sides of the stamps are inscribed "19-VI-XII-17 / 19-VI-XII-27".
