This gold coin was issued by Ghazi-ud-Din Haider of Princely State Awadh. Awadh was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Ghazi-ud-Din Haider had ruled Awadh from 1819 to 1827 CE. Ghazi-ud-Din Haider ruled Awadh almost for 8 years, in these 8 years of reign he issued coins in gold, silver and copper and in many denominations like Mohur, Ashrafi and Rupee.This rare gold mohur was issued by Ghazi-ud-Din Haider in the Hijri year 1234 during the 26th year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of the king’ and reverse of this coin is depicts ‘Crown flanked by rampant lions holding flagon both the sides with two upright fish below and regnal year 26 written in between both the fish, Mint name Dar-ul-Sultanat Lakhnau Subah Awadh written at the top and bottom of the coin.
This gold mohur is listed for INR 70,000 in the upcoming auction of Todywalla which will be held on 5 August 2018.
