After defeating Prithvi Raj Chauhan in the Battle of Tarain in the year 1192 AD, Muhammad Bin Sam came to be popularly known as Muhammad Ghori, he went on to conqueror the North Indian Plain and established Muslim rule in India.Depicted here is a Bull’s eye type silver Dirham issued during the reign of Mu'izz al-din Muhammad bin Sam (1193-1206 AD) from Baldat Ghazna mint. Citing his brother Ghiyath al-Din Muhammad bin Sam as supreme overlord.
The Obverse of coins depicts the Persian legend arranged in circles beginning with Muhammad bin Sam in the centre; Abu al-Muzaffar al-Dunya wa al-Din in the second circle; al-Sultan al-Mu'azzam Mu'izz al-…. al-Dinal-Salam in the third circle; mint and date in the outermost circle.
The reverse of a coin inscribed with legend arranged in circles beginning with Muhammad bin Sam in the centre; Abu al-Fateh Ghiyath al -Dunya wa al-Din in the second circle; Shahada and al-Sultan al-Azam in the third circle; Quranic verse in the outermost circle.
