Bharatpur Ruler Jaswant Singh's coin listed for INR 7000

Bharatpur was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Currently, it is located in the Brij region of Rajasthan. The name Bharatpur is derived from the name ‘Bharat’, brother of Lord Rama. This state was founded by Suraj Mal in the year 1733. Bharatpur became increasingly associated with the Maratha ambitions. In spite of their treaty ties with the East India Company, they assisted the Maratha Confederacy in their struggle against the British.This silver rupee which weighs around 10.9g was issued by Jaswant Singh, the Maharaja of Bharatpur. He ruled the Bharatpur from the year 1853 CE till 1893 CE. Jaswant Singh was the son of Maharaja Balwant Singh.
This silver rupee was issued by Jaswant Singh from the mint ‘Braj Indrapur’. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the portrait of Queen Victoria’ in the centre facing towards left with her name and title written around as ‘Malika Mu'azzamah Farman Rawaye Inglistan’ ("Mighty Queen Ruling over England"). The reverse of the coin is inscribed ‘Sikka-i-Zul Iqtidar Angrezi Sarkar’ with star and Karat as the mint mark.
This coin is listed for INR 7000 in the upcoming online auction of Oswal which will be held on 22nd July 2018.
