Bahawalpur was a Princely State during the British rule in India. Today it is located in the Punjab Provinces of Pakistan. It was ruled by Abbasi family of Nawabs until 1955 CE.Bahawalpur is also known for its rich architectural legacy and monuments which was left their Nawabs. The place also marks an important place of archaeological sites. The region contains the ruins of Indus Valley Civilization, it also has ancient Buddhist sites such as Patan Minara.
The state of Bahawalpur was established in the late 18th century when Muhammad Bahawal Khan II asserted his independence from the Afghan. The independence was short-lived, however, as the state came under British influence around 1820.
This Gold 'Nazarana' Mohur of Muhammad Bahawal Khan II issued in the name of Shah Shuja'a al- Mulk of Afghanistan in AH 12XX from Bahawalpur Mint. The Obverse of a coin depicts the Couplet ‘Sikka zad bar Seem wa Zar chun Mihr wa Mah / Shah-i deen Parwar Shuja'a ul-Mulk Shah’. The reverse of a coin inscribed with Mint name and RY details with Julus formula.
