Silver Rupee of Ahmad Shah Durrani

Ahmad Shah Durrani was born as Ahmad Khan Abdali, he was the founder of Durrani Empire. He is also considered as the founder of modern Afghanistan. After the death of Nadir Shah Afshar in the year 1747 CE, Ahmad Shah Durrani was chosen as the next king of Afghanistan. Before being elected as the king he was General under the Persian emperor Nadir Shah. After becoming a king Durrani built a vast empire. This silver rupee which weighs around 11.2 g was issued by him from the Kashmir mint during the 16th year of his reign. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Ahmad Shah Durrani. The reverse of the coin is inscribed with ‘Julus formula’ with the mint name ‘Kashmir’.
