Death Anniversary of Pandit Kunjilal Dubey

Pandit Kunjilal Dubey, freedom fighter of India and one of the biggest politician and educationalist from Madhya Pradesh, was breathed his last on 2nd July 1970. His death came as a big loss to the country, his political party, and the communities who gained immense support from him.

He served as the first speaker of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1956, as the Finance Minister of the State in 1967. He was also a President of the Inter-University Board of India, Burma and Cylon.

He will always be remembered for his constructive opposition during his long tenure as the Deputy Leader of the opposition in the Legislative Assembly. A towering intellectual in Hindi, English, Marathi and Sanskrit, Pandit Dubey was a simple man and extremely ethical in his personal and public life.

The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour, Padma Bhushan in 1964. He received the degree of Doctor of Law from Jabalpur University in 1965. India Post honored him with a commemorative postage stamp in 1996.
