Many countries have recently released postage stamps featuring interesting animated and cartoon characters. Let’s take a look at two of them today.Croatia released a 3.10-kuna stamp on 3rd May celebrating the 50th anniversary of the animated television series named Professor Balthazar. The popular show was first aired in Croatia from 1968 to 1977. A veteran Croatian animator named Zlatko Grgic had created the lead character for the show. The adorable scientist solves problems faced by the citizens using a complex machine. He always has a positive outlook in life and is very imaginative.
Poland released a souvenir sheet on 30th May featuring Dominic, the elephant character of the 1979 animated film Prosze Slonia (Please, Mr. Elephant). The stamp was released a day before Children’s Day. The film is based on a book written by Ludwik Jerzy Kern in which a small porcelain figurine mysteriously turns into a real white elephant named Dominic when Pinio gives it vitamins to eat. The souvenir sheet is designed by Joanna Fleszar; it contains a 2.60 zlotych stamp and a 3.20z stamp. It is a part of an annual series that celebrates Poland’s animated films.
