Heritage Auctions is going to offer several interesting currency notes during the Hong Kong International Numismatic Fair on 28th and 29th June. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights.

First up is a Yuan Dynasty 2 Kuan note issued somewhere between 1335 and 1340. They were printed on mulberry paper and the script and design were created using a charcoal dye. The note depicts two strings of cash coins at the centre, each string is made of 10 cash stacks. The note is graded PCGS Fine 15 with restorations, edge tears and minor damage on the holder. It will be offered with an estimated value of $40,000 to $50,000.

Another highlight is a Central Bank of China 1 Yuan note graded PMG Gem Uncirculated 65 EPQ. This 1936 issue features the famous orange-tinted design. Only a few notes of this type were printed at that time since Chung Hwa Book Company Limited, De La Rue and Waterlow all printed notes for China. The note is being offered with an estimated value of $8,000 to $12,000.

The next one is a beautiful 1866 $25 Japan Central Bank of Western India Yokuhama note. All existing notes of this type are cancelled, and the offered one is the finest. The red stamp, manuscript dates, and signatures are fresh and clear. Details of the steel plate printing are also very clear. This amazing pen cancelled note with small edge splits and a missing upper left corner tip is graded PCGS Very Fine 25 and is offered with an estimated value of $20,000 to $30,000. Japan was resorting to a self-imposed, isolationist foreign policy until this note was released.

Another great offering is a Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation $100 note issued on 1st April 1948 which is graded PMG Superb Gem Uncirculated 68 EPQ. The centering, designs and colours look amazing. The note features an “E” prefix and is being offered with an estimated value of $8,000 to $12,000.
