Nawanagar Gold Half Kori Sold for INR 90,000

This gold Half-Kori was issued by Jam Vibhaji, he ruled Nawanagar from 1852 to 1894 CE. Today Nawanagar is known as Jamnagar, it is situated in Gujarat. Nawanagar was a Princely State during the British rule in India. It was ruled by the Jadeja Dynasty from the year 1540 CE till 1948 CE.Nawanagar was founded by Sri Rawalji in the year 1540 CE. He was a Jadeja ruler of Kutch and the Princely State during his rule was always in a constant state of war with its neighbours and with the Mughal Empire. Nawanagar had signed the Instrument of Accession in 1948 CE after Indian Independence.
This gold half-Kori weighs around 3.2g and it was issued in the name of Gujarat Sultan Muzaffar Shah III. The obverse of this coin is inscribed with Devnagari legend ‘Shri Jam’ with the Hijri date. The reverse of this coin is inscribed with the name and title of Gujarat Sultanate Muzaffar Shah III.
This Gold Half-Kori was sold for INR 90,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 19th April 2014.
