Rare 1860 Commercial Bank 1 Dollar to be Auctioned

Stack’s Bowers Galleries would be offering an 1860 Commercial Bank of Canada 1 Dollar note in a PMG Choice Fine 15 holder during the World Paper Money Auction at the ANA World’s Fair of Money in August.The note has a Plate Position D, Serial Number 23564 and is hand signed by J. Davidson. As per experts, another example of this type is only found in an institutional collection. The offered note is also the finest of its type. Only two such notes are known in private hands.
The note has a slight wear and Edge fraying. It depicts a bank crest, a seated Indian with a rifle, a train, a hay field, the bank name, an Indian maiden in the oval vignette and two obligatory texts. The reverse has no print or design. It has deep black inks, with green undertones, and a green border with Kingston printed in the border design.
