Two Jenny Inverts to be Auctioned on 27th June
2018-06-14 Thu
The Robert A. Siegel Auction Galleries is going to offer two 1918 24¢ Jenny Invert airmail error stamps on 27th June in New York City. The stamps from positions 6 and 15 on the only sheet of 100 invert errors were also auctioned in 2010 by H.R. Harmer. They belong to a collection of the late Kenneth E. Daugherty.
The position 6 stamp had a straight edge along the top initially. However, it was reperforated between 1942 and 1951. Currently, it has a small thinning at the bottom and a light gum crease. It has red guideline along the left edge due to its position on the pane.
The position 15 stamp has a slight purple ink just above the “24” denomination. The ink was not present when it was offered in 1997. The stamp also comes along with a 2010 Foundation certificate. This one once belonged to the Louise Hoffman air post collection and the Dr. Drew Meilstrup collection.
These stamps with original gum and rich colors have a listed catalogue value of $450,000 each. More information about these stamps is mentioned in the auction catalogue.
