Jersey Post Celebrates 75 Years of the RAF Search and Rescue Force

Jersey post issued six stamps to commemorate the 75 years of the RAF Search and Rescue Force. Established in 1941, RAF Search and Rescue Force collaborated with the Air Ministry to form the Directorate of Air Sea Rescue to coordinate rescue efforts .

During the British was of 1940, Britain felt the need of a better equipped and dedicated service to recover the soldiers who ended up in the oceans and to bring them safely into their squads. .

To commemorate 75 years of the service, Jersey Post issued a set of six stamps with different values worth 47pence, 57 pence, 71 pence, 73 pence, 91 pence and £1.25. The six stamps feature dramatic search and rescue scenes. .

Illustrated by Sharif Tarabay, the stamps depict following rescue scenes an aircraft responding to a distress flare, an air-sea rescue launch, a seaplane rescuing two pilots, a helicopter rescuing a sinking boat, a helicopter flying above a stormy sea and a helicopter rescuing a person stuck on a cliff.
