Romanian Coins Celebrate the End of World War I

The National Bank of Romania released a new gold coin on 29th May to observe 100 years since the end of World War I. The coin has a face value of lei 100 and is made of 900‰ fine gold. It has a diameter of 21 mm and weighs 6.452 g. The proof Quality coin has a milled edge.The obverse features the cross of Romanian heroes of World War I on Caraiman Peak. Other inscriptions include “ROMANIA”, “100 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and “2018”. The reverse features a picture of King Ferdinand I and Queen Maria riding into Bucharest. Other inscriptions include “100 DE ANI DE LA INCHEIEREA PRIMULUI RAZBOI MONDIAL” and “1918”.
The coins come in separate plastic capsules with leaflets featuring a presentation of the coin in Romanian, English, and French. A certificate of authenticity is also attached to each leaflet featuring signatures of the Governor and the Chief Cashier of the National Bank of Romania.
The mintage limit for this coin is 250 gold pieces and each coin would be sold for lei 1,705. They are legal tender in Romania.
