Birth anniversary of Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata

Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata an Indian philanthropist and entrepreneur who founded the Tata Group was born on 3rd March 1839. His ambitious endeavours helped catapult India into the league of industrialized countries.In 1868 Jamsetji Tata founded a trading company that later evolved into the Tata Group. He is regarded as the “father of the Indian industry” for setting in motion what became Asia’s first integrated steel company, despite the hostile investment environment of a colonised India.
Jamsetji Tata has been honoured by India Post by releasing of two stamps, one in 1958 to mark the golden jubilee of the steel industry in India and another in 1965 in recognition of J. N. Tata’s contribution to the industrialisation of India.
Further, on 6th January 2015, Government of India released commemorative coins (INR 100 and INR 5) set to mark the 175th birth anniversary of the pioneer of India’s industrialisation and the Founder of the Tata group, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata. The coins were released by the Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi at a special ceremony in New Delhi.
