Brunei’s High Denomination B$10,000 Note
2018-06-05 Tue
Brunei’s B$10,000 note has a market value of $7,482. The note features a portrait of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and was issued in 2006. Large denominations are generally used during an emergency, wartime, or for illicit reasons.Bolkiah is one of the richest people and longest reigning absolute monarchs of the world. The tiny country’s economy is completely dependent on its rich Oil and gas fields. Its GDP per capita is among the highest in the world.
Most high-denomination bank notes have been demonetiszed around the world like Latvia’s 500-lat note. These notes are mainly used for money laundering, tax evasion, and other criminal activities as they can be easily carried. However, experts believe that since digital money is becoming more and more popular, paper money could become a thing of the past very soon. Experts state that Brunei may not be involved in money laundering and terrorism finance.
