Coin of the Last Ruler of Slave Dynasty

Shams Al-Din Kayumarth (689; AD 1290) was the son of Muizz Al-Din Kaiqubad. He was just three years old when he was made to sit on the throne by one of the faithful nobles of his father.Shams Al-din Kayumarth was the last sultan of Slave dynasty and had ruled for a short period of time. He was killed by Jalal –ud Din Firuz of Khilji Dynasty, and this ended the rule of Slave dynasty and established the rule of Khalji Dynasty in Delhi.
Shams Al-Din Kayumarth ruled for a short period. Hence coins struck on his name are extremely rare.
This Coin which was issued by him reads as “Al-Sultan Al-Azam shams al-Dunya wa Al-Din Abul Muzaffar Kayumarth Al Sultan” within the double rectangle on the obverse. And “al-Imam al-Musta'asim Amir al-Momineen within a circle on the reverse, mint name Hadrat Delhi and date 689 (in words) are written in the margin.
This extremely rare coin was sold for INR 2,50,000 at Todywalla Auction held in Mumbai on 20th April 2018.
