Rare National Bank Notes to be Sold at CPMX 2016

A set of rare and interesting notes is all set to be auctioned, on March 17-18 held at the Chicago Paper Money Expo in Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare, Rosemont, Ill.

The best amongst them is a pair of $1 1899 large size Silver Certificates from the same block with serial numbers #99999999 and #10000000, Fr. 233. Both notes are graded by PCGS as About-New 58 Premium Paper Quality (PPQ). Many such pairs were broken up over time, making this set very rare, holding an estimate value of between $35,000 to $50,000.

Other notes at the auction include a 1917 Legal Tender Note with a #100000000 serial number Fr. 37, graded PCGS About-New 58, lot 1040, 362 National Bank Notes, highlighted by a $5 1902 Red Seal, Fr. 587, from The First National Bank of Steamboat Springs, Col., W6454 and many more.

The sale features a wide variety of large-size type, including many high end circulated notes, colonials, confederate, fractionals, obsoletes, star notes and world offerings. Fancy serial numbers are also crossing the block
