Indonesia is a Southeast Asian nation made up of thousands of volcanic islands. It is home to hundreds of ethnic groups speaking many different languages and is known for beaches, volcanoes, Komodo dragons and jungles sheltering elephants, orangutans and tigers.On the island of Java lies Indonesia's vibrant, sprawling capital, Jakarta, and the city of Yogyakarta, known for gamelan music and traditional puppetry. The rupiah is the official currency of Indonesia. The note depicted beside is an Indonesian 1000 Rupiah 2016 banknote. The note specifications are as follows:
Obverse: Black on green and yellow underprint. The portrait of Tjut Meutia is depicted on the centre and National symbol of Indonesia is seen on the top right with the year of issue and map below it. Numerical denomination in English script at bottom right and top left with signature below it.
Reverse: The image of historic Banda Naira site is depicted on left with a traditional drummer in the centre. The serial number is seen on the top right and bottom left corners with ‘bank Indonesia’ and denomination printed in the right bottom corner. The promissory text is printed on left bottom corner with the denomination in words below it.
