Ottoman Rarities to Star in Noble Numismatics Sale

Noble Numismatics’ 40th anniversary sale which will be held in Sydney from April 5th to 8th will star two extremely rare and historically important Ottoman 50,000 livres notes. The notes belong to the Ottoman Empire and just two are issued notes, the rest being specimens.All are Ministry of Finance State Notes of Mehmed V and Mehmed IV and were issued during World War I. Some of them carry the imprint of Giesecke & Devrient. They are in excellent condition and grade EF to UNC
The two 50,000 livres dated AH 1332 [A.D. 1916] had a contemporary value of approximately 500 pounds sterling and were used for inter-bank transfers.
Both the notes are unsigned, have serial number 00, are perforated specimen in Turkish in five places and carry an estimate of A $100,000. The only difference is grade. Many other rare notes will be on sale as well.
