Latvian post issues special stamps featuring the Unique Exhibits of Latvian Museum of Natural History.Recently on 19th Feb 20016 the Latvian Post released a special stamp featuring Aberrant Birds. The aberrant bird is a species that occurs extremely rarely in nature. Latvian museum is one of the three museums in the world which exhibits the Aberrant Birds.
The first stamp was issued in 2015 and it was dedicated to the unique specimen in the paleontology collection – the Placoderm fish. Placoderm fish is an extinct class of armoured prehistoric fish only known from the fossils. It was among the first jawed fish.
The objective behind the concept of Unique Exhibits is to spread awareness about the ecology as well as the preservation, maintenance and research of the natural collection, and active environmental education.
