India - China Joint Philatelic Issue

India and China issued postage stamps in collaboration with each other based on the theme of classical architecture. The stamps depict White horse Temple of China and Mahabodhi Temple of India.Located at Bodhgaya the Mahabodhi Temple is an important Monument of Buddhism in India. It is the place where Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, is said to have attained enlightenment.
The White Horse Temple is the first Buddhist Temple in China and was built under the patronage of Chinese Emperor Han around 67 AD.
Released on 11th July 2008 the Indian stamps come with the denomination of Rs.15 whereas the Chinese stamps worth 1.20 Chinese Yuan were issued on 6th June 2008.
