Jaipur was the Princely State of India from 1128 to 1947 CE. It was ruled from the 12th century till India's independence by different rulers in different ages like Dhundhar, Kachwaha, Amber and Jaipur Kingdoms. Jaipur state was also ruled by Mughal Empire and later by British Empire. The city of Jaipur was founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the year 1728.Maharaja Sawai Man Singh was the last ruling Maharaja of Jaipur State belonging to Kachwaha clan of Rajputs. He ruled the princely state between 1922 and 1949 when the state acceded unto the Dominion of India.
He issued coins in four metals viz. gold, silver, copper and brass. These Coins struck in the name of British Imperial from Jaipur Sawai mint. Annas series represents the ‘Jhar’ symbol along with Persian legend. Later on, it features the bust of Man Singh II with the legend in Devanagari and Persian.
