SS Pasteur Ship on France stamp

This stamp of France issued in 1941 is on the greatest variety of the 20th century. This stamp was issued to commemorate the SS Pasteur, an ocean liner built by Compagnie de Navigation Sud-Atlantique.This ship had 41 years of sailing past and was considered on the most beautiful passenger liner of her time. This semi-postal stamp was printed in dark blue-green, it was designed and engraved by Albert Decaris. One of these stamps with a red surcharge was sold for 30,000 dollars, similar to the above-shown image.
Today there are only eight known stamps of SS Pasteur without the surcharge known.
