Rebellion issue of Jahangir

This silver rupee is rebellion issue of Jahangir, it was minted from Allahabad during the reign of Akbar. The obverse of this coin depicts the Persian poetic couplet with mint name, but without the ruler’s name. These issues are generally associated with the Rebellion period of Salim (Jahangir). When he was rebelling against his father, Emperor Akbar.The obverse couplet inscribed on this coin reads ‘Hamesha hamchu zar mihr wa mah raij bad’ while the reverse of the coin depicts ‘baghrub wa sharq jahan sikka Allahabad’. The translation is ‘Like the gold of the sun and moon, may ever rule; in the world’s east to west, the coin of Allahabad’.
