Birth Anniversary of Neelam Sanjiva Reddy

India’s sixth President, Neelam Sanjiva Reddy was born on 19th May 1913 in Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. Reddy completed his schooling at Adayar and joined the Government Arts College at Anantapur for further education.He held a lot of important positions in the Union Government. He was elected to the Madras Legislative Assembly in 1946 as a Congress party representative. Reddy became the first Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 1956.
Moreover, he was the youngest President to occupy Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was barely 65 years of age when he took charge. Another interesting record of Sanjiva Reddy is that he was elected as the Speaker of Lok Sabha twice in 1967 and in 1977.
In 2013 the Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a special cover to commemorate Reddi’s birth centenary.
