Gold Mohur of Princely State Bharatpur

The Princely State of Bharatpur was founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in the year 1733. At present, it is located in the Brij region in the state of Rajasthan.Maharaja Randhir Singh was the Jat ruler of Bharatpur. He succeeded his father Maharaja Ranjit Singh after his death in December 1805. He tried to improve the condition of his territory and develop the state administration in various ways. He abolished the huge army that was creating disturbances and rebels due to delay in payment of salaries in order to maintain peace and reduce taxes in the state. He ruled Bharatpur for 18 years.
This very rare gold mohur which issued from the mint Bharatpur is listed with the estimated price of 1,00,000-1,25,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery. This coin was stuck in the name of Mughal ruler Shah Jahan III.
The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Sikka Mubarak Badshah Ghazi Shah Jahan’ with the Hijri Year 1174. The reverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Jalus Maimanat Manus’ with the mint name ‘Mahindrapur;, Regnal Year ‘Ahad’ is written at the bottom.
