Jahandar Shah was a son of Bahadur Shah I, he sat on the Mughal throne in the year 1712 and ruled it till 1713. After the death of Bahadur Shah in the year 1712, he managed to sit on a Mughal throne with the help of Zulfiqar Khan. Jahandar Shah was very weak and a pleasure-seeking Emperor who led frivolous life and neglected the state affairs. In the year 1713, he was defeated by Farrukhsiyar the second son of Azim-ush-shan in the battle at Agra with the help of Sayyid brother.This very rare gold mohur was issued by him from the mint ‘Dar-ul-Sarur Burhanpur’ during the first year of his reign. This coin is listed with the estimated price of INR 90,000-1,00,000 in the upcoming auction of Classical Numismatic Gallery, which will be held in Delhi on 19th May 2018.
The obverse of this coin is inscribed as ‘Dar Afaq Zad Sikka Chun Mehr-o-Mah Abul Fateh Gazi Jahandar Shah’ and the reverse of the coin is inscribed as ‘Zarb Dar-us-Sarur Burhanpur, Sanah Ahad, Julus Mainamat Manus’.
