Kuntala Janapada was one of the sixteen Mahajanapadas of ancient India. Today, it includes the region of the Southern part of Maharashtra and northern part of Karnataka.In ‘Markandeya Purana’ Kuntala Janapada is listed under the country of Madhya Desha. According to the Mysore Inscription Kuntala region includes the southern part of Bombay presidency and the northern part of Mysore. During the ancient times, Kuntala region was also ruled by Nanda Dynasty.
Kuntala Janapada has issued coins in two metals, silver and copper. They have issued coins with a single punch of Pulley on the obverse side. A single copper coin has also listed having two similar symbols.
