The Chinese banknotes are issued denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 by the People's Bank of China (PBOC) the central bank of China.They are all different sizes and colours. On the obverse, they all depict the portrait of Mao Zedong who is more commonly known as Chairman Mao. He was a Chinese Communist revolutionary and the founding father of the People's Republic of China, which he governed as Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976.

100 Yuan: Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square, Beijing
50 Yuan: Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet
20 Yuan: Scenery from the Karst Mountains and Li River of Guilin
