Coin of Cambay Princely State

Cambay or Kambat, is Princely State located at the head of the Gulf of Gujarat, was founded as a state in 1730 by the second last Nawab of Mughal Empire, Mirza Ja'fa Mu'min Khan I. He was the last of the Mughal governors of Gujarat at the time of the decline of the Mughal rule in India.Engraved here is a silver Rupee of Ja’afar Ali Khan of Khambayat mint. The obverse side of this coin depicts Persian legend ‘Sikka Mubarak Jaafar Ali Khan’ with AH 1315. The reverse of this coin depicts ‘Zarb Khamabayat Sanah 19 Julus Mainamat Manus’.
This silver Rupee was sold for INR 9,000 by Classical Numismatic Gallery.
